Hi Tracey,Bar-tailed Godwits can also have a pink base to the bill. The bill of the Black-tailed is straighter than that of the Bar-tailed, which is slightly upcurved. The best way to tell them is when they fly. The Black-tailed has a very distinctive pattern of black and white on the wings and rump. Greg Clancy |
