Ouch, I didn't know about the moulting problem, but there it is in Pizzey and Knight. It says "stumpy all-white tails". How stumpy? It looked normal to me but I didn't really take note of it. We saw it from behind so the angle might hide the shortness. I was surprised by the width of the white trailing edge but haven't seen enough Pacifics to put that much faith in that observation.
