Myself and another hopeful watched from the southern platform for 30 minutes around 6pm today without sighting the Lewin's. This is the first time for a while that I've missed it. We had two very brief glimpses of Spotless Crakes. Dean Ingwersen was at the northern platform at the same time and had a brief look at it. I don't know what influences these birds (and the crakes) to become more shy or less shy at times, but in this case it certainly isn't the water level as it's still dropping nicely.
