Myna in a traffic light

For the past couple of years I have noticed a Common myna roosting at night
immediately (within 2 cm) of the opening to an operating red light traffic
signal at the Corner of Rosanna Rd and Upper Heidelberg Rd in Heidelberg -
its on the left-side approach to this intersection coming up the Hill. I've
watched the bird with interest basically because it looks like such an
incredibly inhospitable environment.

Maybe bird vision doesn't react to red light but I thought the heat would
drive most avian life away.

About 500 metres down Waiora Rd from this intersection at another set of
lights I saw exactly the same thing - a myna roosting in a fully-lit light.

Neither bird seems to be hawking for insects.

Maybe this is common but I haven't noticed it before.
