Hi
I have to disagree on the Big Year - I thought it was very interesting,
but very poorly written, it jumped all over the place and I found that
frustrating, although the content was terrific. Another book in a
similar vein - 'The Twitchers' I think it was called - was better, but
Sean Dooley certainly, in my opinion, outclasses the others. I haven't
read 'Anoraks to Zitting Cists' yet, I bought it in November and am just
waiting till I have time to sit down and read it without interruption -
along with some good whiskey - but I thoroughly enjoyed 'The BIg Twitch'
and, as everyone else has, highly recommend it.
I was given a small book called 'The Birdwatcher's Companion' at
Christmas and it's full of random stuff regarding birds and birdwatching
with a bent towards the UK. I don't know where it was obtained, but it's
really interesting to read in small snippets.
Cheers
Colin
