Ditto, though mine is unpadded.  It has enough free space in it to hold
my 'scope in its (lightly padded) case for local trips, or clothes for
padding (great idea, David!)

In fact i don't know if you can get hard cases for tripods.

You can (e.g. http://www.nalpak.com), but they aren't cheap.
