Sad to hear this!

I only met David once, though we corresponded through this list a bit. Just after we moved to Northern Tasmania, I went to visit David in Devonport - on bird-related matters - and he generously gave me quite a number of bird books. He was preparing to move back to the mainland, and had many books he wanted to take with him, but these ones he said I could have. I wouldn't have said he looked well, but he never spoke of illness, and certainly didn't let on his illness was terminal.

A generous man whom I only met once, but whose passing I was very sad to hear.

Ulverstone, Tas.
