I can vouch for this apparent influx of White-browed Woodswallows as over
the past two weeks I have had small to large flocks over my house in East
Killara, Sydney.
The first lot were on the 4/10 - this consisted of small flock of about 7-8
birds heading North East and were quite high up.
The second flock was much larger and seen on the16/10, this flock flew over
from down the valley in Garigal NP (where I presume they were feeding
amongst the trees?) and were swept high over me house by a powerful breeze,
this flock consisted of about 30-40 birds and was heading NW.
The last flock was sighted on the 19/10 and consisted of between 50-60
birds, they were flying West over my house in a loose flock which continued
for quite some time.
I did not manage to identify any Masked amongst the larger flocks as the birds were quite high up, but think there may have been some as a few different calls were heard. Kurtis Lindsay |
