One of the Australian birding wonders is to hear the flight of a Victoria
Riflebird.
While at Paluma north of Townsville recently were feeding birds (!!!) when
a male riflebird arrived. We could hear the distinct sound of 'shuffling
taffeta' as he approached the deck of the house we staying in ... then
this vivid satin black bird arrived. Magnificent ...
Interestingly the females flight sounds were much subdued compared to the
males ...
