Masked Lapwings swooping

Again, we used to have a pair of MAgpies nest regularly in our front yard in Tenterfield, NSW, some years ago. We hand-fed them, and so they never swooped us, but the little kids who used to throw rocks at them were always fair game when it was nesting time.

Funny about that. We had a pair of Magpies nesting near us once that
attacked only the old bloke next door. Anyone including all the kids in
the neighbourhood could walk anywhere about and the birds did not care
but the old fellow had only to stand at his front door and the maggies
would come from nowhere and hammer him.

Dear all,

The perversity of Lapwings to nest in very public areas is amazing.
There
was a pair that regularly nested on the golf course in Armidale (not
sure if
they are still doing so). And they swooped, but seemed to target one
golfer
in particular who would end up in an absolute fury, flinging clubs at
the
birds. Of course, onlookers thought this quite funny, because the
golfer in
question although on a very low handicap, was quite often very grumpy,
to
say the least.
