I think they tend to arrive earlier here than over east. I don't have many actual records but I'd have thought the first ones get back late July. The first I heard this year was at Christmas Tree Well on the BAWA walk there on 5th August and there were two or three calling along Yarra Road on Wednesday this week when I went down there for a quick look.

When is Shining Bronze Cuckoo usually due in the south-west? I've had one calling in my backyard for at least 3 weeks now. I have a feeling the local rufous whistler will have an impostor in his nest.
