Then it isn't just us. We are 25km north of Violet
Town and have had the same experience of having a
multitude of Striated Pardalotes to none at all for
several months for no reason we could ascertain.
It occurred around the same time we started a program
of removing Noisy Miners with a permit to study the
return of small passerines on our property (a
spectacular success) and wondered if there was a
connection, but it appears that it is a coincidence
and is part of a wider drop throughout the area.
On the plus side we have seen our first Hooded Robin
on our place as well as an increase in Whistlers and
Jackie Winters. There is also a Brolga hanging around
nearby, we hear it most mornings.
