Hi Peter,
Places worth a visit along the way particularly if we get rain are:-
Lake Broadwater N/P south west of Dalby on Moonie H/way. And of course the Bunya Mtns N/P north of Dalby. But closer to the H/way is Chinchilla weir about 10 km south. Roma sewage ponds south of the highway in town past the shire depot. Neil Turner weir on the Maranoa river 3 km north west of the town of Mitchell. Tregole N/P at Morven as has already been mentioned by Elizabeth Shaw. In Charleville visit the Cosmos Centre and the Bilby show and tell night by N/P's. If your 'outlaws' are camping, there is free camping with toilets at Chinchilla weir and Neil Turner weir Mitchell.
