stops Toowoomba to Charleville??

Dear birders,

I'm meeting up with my 'outlaws' in October in Charleville, on our way to Bowra 
:-)
Now, they will probably be motoring across from Brisbane. Here is the question, 
please:- Any good birding or scenic spots between Toowoomba and Charleville ?? 
They've been in various Australian environs before (coming from Botswana), but 
outback Q'land is new. Can't find any records of that stretch in my archives.

Would highly appreciate a couple of hints, assuming any are to be had!?
