Hi Peter,

Yes, you are right that Little Ravens can sound a bit like most of the other
corvid species at times.  However you become familiar with the pattern, tone
and pitch of their calls after a while, and there are noticeable
differences.  Coupled with the fact that I already believed it was an
Australian Raven based on size, posture and behavior, and that the call was
a textbook Aus Raven call, I'm 100% sure of my ID.  Keep your eyes open,
look for a single large corvid (they really are noticeably bigger) and watch
how it behaves and hopefully calls.  I've had other responses suggesting
they are rare here, but do turn up occasionally.
