Grey-crowned Babblers were the first bird I saw in Australia when I arrived
in April 1991. As the 747 was taxing from the runway to the terminal at
Brisbane Airport I spotted a group of GcBs playing in low shrubs in a
drainage ditch by the runway. I had a copy of Simpson and Day in the my
hands and so identified them before we got to the terminal.
(The second bird was a Crested Pigeon just outside the terminal).
I assume this troop were related to the Nudgee birds.
