Lots of robins around on the western plains. The Western Treatment Plant has
the chance of an Orange-bellied Parrot and there are quite a lot of
Double-banded Plovers at the moment - many in breeding plumage. But the
tracks are somewhat wet and a 4WD is probably wise - and most ducks have
vanished at the moment.
The Werribee group found 63 species in a few hours on the Werribee River
(town centre, the rose garden and the river mouth).

Hi folks
I am curious as to what areas people might be finding
rewarding at this time of year despite wet/cold
conditions. Being a relative novice I am not too
familiar with migration patterns etc.
So if you have found any excellent spots within say
1-2 hours of Melbourne I would love to know about it.
(prefer fairly accessible areas so we dont get bogged
etc).
Thanks in advance
Cheryl
