I think the comment is valid, there seems to be an 'anti-lumping' sentiment
amongst twitchers and example of this was put quite forcefully no this list
not so long ago (where lumpers were somehow likened to paedophiles, quite
offensive really).
As I have said before, many birders are keen to accept splits to increase their own list, but ignore lumps which are equally as valid. Such an example of this is the lumping of sooty and lesser sooty owl. Graham Turner (ducking for cover) |
