The Action Plan for Australian Birds, 2000, by Stephen Garnett has the eastern Regent Parrot listed as "endangered", the BA project for IBAs has them as Biome restricted as well as endangered only on the 2004 but not on the 2007 list.
So I suppose it depends on who's list is used.
Cheers Chris

A further update from my father on the regent parrot court case .

Hi Al - The last on Regent Parrots till after 17th July. Greg
Rohde, the Victorian Dept of Sustainability & Environment
officer who has the supervision of this matter, explained to
me this morning that they had problems with the correct
charges. Regents are "vulnerable" but the offences in the Act
are only for Protected, Notable and Endangered so it had to
be the lowest of the 3 types - Protected - as Notable isn't
the same as Vulnerable. .

They were hoping to get a prosecution up under the EBCA (Cth)
but some other . bureaucrat listed the Western Regent not the
Eastern race so that now looks unlikely to go ahead.

Is this also a mistake? Should the Eastern Race be listed?

If these things are indeed mistakes then unless they're fixed, the next
time this happens they'll get off lightly again. Is it automatic that
when this kind of thing is discovered someone starts fixing it? Or do we
have to lobby to get them fixed?

If the latter, then, um, who do we lobby? And should we be going
through the whole list, wherever that list might be, and making sure all
the other species are listed correctly?
