I found the Bt yesterday (Saturday 26th) in the morning and then again
mid-afternoon. Both times it was roosting on the structure holding the
pipework for fuel deliveries. That is located just offshore and
directly opposite the Fishermen's Cooperative building.

I had it for about an hour in the morning. I did try Richard's tip, and
the result was that it came in with the other gulls and I had it within
a few metres of me.

Wasn't hard to find John. If you do get up there go to Fisherman's
Wharf. Drive in, go round the r h bend and proceed to the SECOND
Weststar packing shed. There is a small sign saying "private jetty ' on
the right. Park at the jetty and look at the jetty uprights just round
the corner to the left. The bird was there quite a few times for me. I
also found it a couple of times by going back to the big parking/loading
area near the entrance to the wharf and searching the harbour basin.
Found it once on the truck tyres used as moorings and once on a boat
alongside Murchison's Shed. Frank also had it round at Pages Beach I
believe but I didn't see it there. Nice pair of Ospreys nesting round
nearer the lighthouse too. No other birders there that I noticed. On
Friday I used Richard's trick and took some leftover fish and chips -
that soon brought in the gulls including the Bt. Apart from being a bit
of a ragtag juvenile the bird seemed perfectly settled and healthy.

Good luck. Tony.

Just another week and a half will do.......

It's about time I had a conference and a rarity coincide. In Perth for a
conference Friday week, and heading up towards Jurien over the long
weekend with friends. Hopefully I can convince them to go that "few
extra yards" to Geraldton.

Yours in all things "green"
