Keith,
For me Twitchathon isn't about winning. Even though we
travel vast distances we cannot compete with the more
'experienced' teams. For me twitchathon is about
finding as many species as possible in the 24hr
period. This involves travelling.
I find the whole idea behind this conversation
obsured. Twitchathon happens once a year, I travel to
work 5 times a week, should I stop going to work? (btw
no public transport where I am). Also does this mean
we can't birdwatch in famous locations like Lord Howe
Island, Christmas Island because of the huge amounts
of emissions let off by aircraft?
I think we do more good travelling around Australia
looking at birds then we do harm.
Keep driving people, but turn off a light!
