"ORIENTAL HOBBY - originally seen by Mike Carter, Grant Penrhyn and
Colin
Judkin during their visit but views were too brief to ID it. It was
later seen
by myself and 9 others at the rubbish tip hunting pigeons. We
observed it one
morning hit a Christmas Island Imperial Pigeon in flight and knock it
off
course. The pigeon escaped." Regards Richard BaxterThis seems an amazingly large species for such a diminutive falcon to attack, they are mostly insectivorous but do go for small birds or bats at times, especially when breeding.
