With all due respect to both birding-aus members and the moderators, we all
make mistakes in both identifying birds and entering them into a database.
Whilst the moderators (and indeed the software I guess) can easily flag
really unlikely birds, if a person mistakenly identifies (say) a Grey Teal
when it was in fact a female Chestnut Teal then no-one is ever going to
know. Whether this is important or not depends on the use that you wish to
make of the data, but I would suggest that anyone allows for some margin of
error!

My experience with looking at Eremaea for some sites leads me to believe
that the rarities get reported rather more readily than the common birds -
not a fault of the software of course but again something than you need to
be aware of.

I'd say the reports are really pretty reliable, as I'd guess the
majority of reports come from members of the birding-aus list, and I
believe the lists which are publicly available are checked by the
site moderators for questionable reports.
As for completeness, you need to check the number of surveys done and
when they were done to make any reasonable assesment.
If there has been fairly regular & recent surveys, as is the case
with the Meeri Creek Trail, the list should be quite complete.

There may be a survey covering the Merri Creek from Nth Fitzroy to
Dights Falls as well?

cheers
