I use Birdinfo which is an Australian designed database (see
http://www.netspeed.com.au/birds/birdinfo/
It is not free and costs $99 but has all the features I want such as species
lists (birds, mammals, reptiles etc) for Australian regions (states and
territories) and the ability to tally by region and/or by year. It is
extremely simple to add sightings and can compile lists of species seen or
wanted. At the click of a button it can export to Birds Australia for the
atlas, something I do every six months or so.
I have no proprietary interest in this software but like its functionality.
