Tony/Aus Birders,It could be the Kookaburras excavated the hole in the palm where it was soft. Back in the 50's on my parent's dairy farm Kookaburras would excavate a hole near the top of the newly built hay stack next to the dairy yards. This went on for several years where they would make a nesting hole in the new haystack after it was completed (generally by the end of November). Dean Cutten Victor Harbor, SA Australia |
