Hi Phil and all
Pheasant Coucal is an irregular sighting on both Curra Moors and the
Mt Bass Trail in the Royal National Park.
I've also found Pheasant Coucals to be spread across the northern
beaches area well outside of the Narrabeen area. In fact, I was
watching one call from the top of a Banksia halfway up the "Crown to
the Sea" walk at Newport Beach, just over an hour ago.
Happy birding

I was in Sydney on the weekend and this morning I was able to get

trail in the Royal National Park.
I was surprised to watch a Pheasant Coucal fly across an open area
of ground
and then drop into some thicker vegetation further away. I thought
they only
were seen around Narrabeen in Sydney. New Holland and Tawny Crowned
Honeyeaters were out in force. I also saw two Beautiful Firetails,
a bird I
have consistently missed along this trail.
Unfortunately this was only a short trip but a good one.
