Subject: Albatross deaths in the Kermadec fishery

   Hello all,

Without wanting to start a bonfire about this issue. Is it really
any
surprise that this vessel is Australian?

Until we follow New Zealand's lead and demand that our fishing
vessels
have 100% bycatch observancy aboard, then our fisheries will continue
   with unsustainable practices.

The government of New Zealand has closed down entire sections of
their
fishery due to albatross deaths in the past. These vessels have only
been allowed to re-start their operations after they have proved that
   they are minimising by-catch.

When are we going to learn to do the same?

   Cheers,

   Inger
