Hi all,

Well the competition is really hotting up in this years Victorian
Twitchathon!

This year the Bush Turkeys (headed by someone called Sean Dooley?) are
once again trying to regain the mantle of being the Victorian Champions.
There are however some serious challengers from the other teams in the
competition. This includes the Seven Year Twitchers (my team and the
current Victorian Champions!), the Common Loudmouth, the 24 Hour Stints
and the Ninox Ninkompoops.

I, for one, am looking forward to the challenge of beating any past
Victorian pretenders. No offence, but they're a bunch of has-been
birders who couldn't tell a Chlidonias hybridus from a C. leucopterus on
a windy day, let alone recognize that unusual Boobook call, the one that
goes "yo, yo, yo".

I am also keen to see how we go using the new national scoring system. I
reckon we should easily beat those cocky Welshmen (with silly names such
as WOW, Home Hunter Brewers and ACT). The Welshmen, quite apart from
having problems distinguishing Bassians from a Russet-tails, seem
incapable of correctly pronouncing Gerygone (or is it Gerygone?).

So, finally, now that I've offended nearly every birder in Australia,
I'd like to get to the the point! We are still extremely interested in
hearing from anyone that wants to participate in this extraordinary
birding competition. So if you are keen to race just let me know.
