Still no Golden Plovers - so I can only assume they've moved off down the coast.
14 RN Stint
1 Grey Plover (now there for 2 days in a row)
5 BT Godwits
6 Red-Capped Plover
2 Royal Spoonbill
4 Crested Tern (1 juv)
1 Whiskered Tern (adult breeding plumage)
26 Sharpies
The Whiskered Tern was chasing the Crested Terns quite aggressively then
settled down on the bay side of the spit. Very handsome bird.
On AGPs, I am trying to get hold of data for both PGP and AGP from Johnson &
Johnson on wing length v body length as the primary tip to carpal length was
10% longer for the subject bird whilst the body length was the same. It would
be difficult to imagine that BARC would find the submission acceptable
currently (unless by some miracle the bird turns up and a faecal sample is
taken for DNA analysis) as the id is very difficult and has to be 'beyond
reasonable doubt'. Hopefully, the data and the measurements from the flight
photos may be convincing.
Cheers,
Graham
