One worrying finding from this study was that 94% of serious injuries to birds from fishing line and tackle were from active fishing or set lines; discarded tackle and lines accounted for only 6% of serious injuries. Another very worrying finding was the sheer numbers of injuries to birds, especially pelicans, in the study area.

I really do not understand why fishers are so environmentally unaware or uncaring. It makes my blood boil to see the results of fishing line and plastics.
