My limited understanding of genetics suggests that it wouldn't be passed
throught the genes but would have to be taught. Though I have heard
somewhere that birds do have some genetic memory. Any further comments from
someone who knows more than me?

Hi,

We also have Australian Ravens which soften bread in the birdbath. I
presume that in this case when the bird baths ran out, he used the dam,
realized fish were attracted and they were more of a meal than bread.
What I would really like to know now is whether that Crow is the only
one in the vicinity which does it and/or whether the Crow's offspring
use the method. ie is this cultural trait passed on.

Cheers

Andrew

fish in there. At least not in mine.
