Thanks to all those who had a look at my mystery bird photo. Rohan Clarke
summed it up beautifully with both id (California Quail) and comments on
where it may have come from. I had concluded that this is probably what the
bird was, but as I have had absolutely no experience with this bird, I
thought it best to check with those who may have. (The picture was taken by
a non-birder who wanted to know what it was).
