We used to get them regularly at Boggabilla (right on the Qld border
near Goondiwindi), and then occasionally at (or near) Tenterfield,
though both periods were some years ago now (about 3-8 years ago for
Tenterfield, and 8-12 years ago for Boggabilla). I think we did
occasionally see them in Moree when we were living in Boggabilla, but
can't recall ever seeing them much further south than Tenterfield on
the Tablelands. We did see them a bit around Ashford, etc. a little
further inland.

Hi Greg,
Pizzey, wrong? Don't believe it :-)
I have seen them at Burleigh Heads often ( twenty years ago when I was
there a lot) and also in NSW along the coast but can't remember
exactly where at the moment.
Alan Morris and I saw them near Inverell a few weeks ago and we saw
them near the GHL last month. Alan and I were birding around Inverell
and saw them there, no doubt Alan will have a grid reference? Seeing
them twice on separate following trips to northern NSW makes me think
they are more common in that area. Appreciate your response.
Cheers

Hi Alan,
The reference to Pale-headed Rosellas in Pizzey is a little
misleading. The species does not occur on a regular basis south to
Woolgoolga. The 3 or so records that I have of the species over
nearly 30 years in the Grafton-Coutts Crossing area are likely to be
of cage escapees. This view is supported by Morris,McGill and Holmes
(1981). To see the species within its normal range you need to travel
much further north towards the Queensland border to places such as
Woodenbong and Grevillia or north-west to Moree. I don't know whether
they venture south of the border at Tweed Heads but I haven't seen
them there.
