Hi All,
Thanks to everyone who offered advice about finding Powerful Owls in Sydney a few weeks ago.

We are now back from our trip, and did indeed find out target (much-sought for a number of years), thanks to advice from Chris Charles in Chatswood - Thanks Chris!

He directed us to where we might find one, not far from his home, though along with many respondents, was a bit dubious of our chances, especially at this time of year, when the females are nesting, and the males mostly find a different roost.

However, we almost immediately found our bird, and so were soon on our way - rejoicing - to visit family and friends for our holiday.

For those interested, there is a small picture I contributed to our local Tasmanian birding blogspot - www.tassiebirds.blogspot.com

It's only small, because where I was staying in NSW only had landline to send the image in, so I trimmed it drastically. Now I'm back home, with broadband, I can send other images (OK, but not brilliant) to anyone interested.

Thanks again for the many helpful responses.

John Tongue
Hobart.
