I have found that the EY Robins are the first to call during the 'day proper',
just on first light, but consistently I have found that if Kookaburra's are in
the area they beat the EY Robins by up to an hour, well before dawn.
The same seems to happen on dusk, where the Robins are usually the last to
call, but the Kooka's invariably have the 'last laugh', just after dark.

To which I'd like to append a query:
Does anyone know of any area where there are Eastern Yellow Robins, but
some other species beats the Robins to first call?

PS Not sure, but I think crows might be the first to call here in suburban
Hawthorne (Brisbane). Early risers, are crows.
