Hi Everyone,

I live in an inner city unit so my backyard list consists of birds that I have seen from my windows or balcony. However today was an exception. This morning when I returned from shopping, a Rufous Fantial was flying around the top of the stairwell outside my unit. I opened the door to my unit and it flew in towards the light from the balcony. Although I opened the balcony door, it continued to flit around the ceiling of the unit. Eventually it collapsed with exhaustion and I was able to catch and place it in a thick pot-plant on the balcony. It stayed there for over an hour until I had to go out again. When I returned, it had gone.

My "backyard list is now 61 counting introductions and escapees.

Rgds,
Allan from Glebe in the Inner-west of Sydney.
