Hi there Allan,
What a delight to have such a beautiful bird in your home! I was so
envious. We only get the Grey Fantail here in Murray Bridge South
Australia. We are delighted when it comes into our garden and spends
time catching its lunch.
If you have time, check out my birding blog. I've taken the liberty of
using your experience with the Rufous Fantail for today's entry, along
with my frustrating experiences with this species.

Happy birding,

Hi Everyone,
I live in an inner city unit so my backyard list consists of birds that
I have seen from my windows or balcony. However today was an exception.
This morning when I returned from shopping, a Rufous Fantial was flying
around the top of the stairwell outside my unit. I opened the door to my
unit and it flew in towards the light from the balcony. Although I
opened the balcony door, it continued to flit around the ceiling of the
unit. Eventually it collapsed with exhaustion and I was able to catch
and place it in a thick pot-plant on the balcony. It stayed there for
over an hour until I had to go out again. When I returned, it had gone.
My "backyard list is now 61 counting introductions and escapees.
Rgds,
Allan from Glebe in the Inner-west of Sydney.
