Doug asks: Why do people hate these two Australian birds ?" Well I
suspect that most people don't. I'll give an example of why they can be a
problem. My brother designed the solar collector that
featured in the recent Australian stamp issue on sustainable energy systems. For
a while there were some Little Corellas that liked to bite on the frame holding
the very delicately placed mirrors. This is expensive equipment. It seemed to
only be a few. Of course this is annoying, so yes there are good reasons for
people to dislike these birds. That is not to advocate any particular action
against them. Also bear in mind that the distribution and abundance of these
birds have increased drastically, due to our agricultural and urban
practices.
