Hi all,

Spent my afternoon birding in the hawkesbury region yesterday, decided to see for myself what was in the area.

Went to the Turf farms at the corner of Cupitts lane and Cornwallis Rd at approximately 2:00pm not a very good time to go birdng but was the only time I could.
I didn't expect to see anything at first but  managed to flush a pair of King qail (male and female), a pair of singing bushlark and many cisticolas there were also alot of Bulbul feeding in the Privet surrounding the paddock.

Went to Pitt Town Lagoon at 3:00.
Saw quite a few species on the ponds including 12+ Red Necked Avocets, good numbers of stilt, a lone Spotless Crake feeding out in the open, 20+ Sharptailed Sandpiper, 30 Pink-eared Duck and a couple of pairs of Aust Shoveler.

I had trouble Identifying a lone wader which was feeding around some ducks, it was a reddish brown colour all over with long legs and a long straight bill.
I watched it for some time through the scope & I first thought it was just a Bar-tailed Godwit as the bird was of similar size and bill the usual length to a Godwit  but the straight bill just didn't seem to comply as Bar-tailed Godwits usualy have a distinct slighty up curved bill.
Its feeding pattern was a double probe in the mud with its bill going half way in each time. It wasn't feeding constantly I watched it feed about three times.
The bird was located on the bank of the second Grass 'Island' from the left, in the pond opposite the viewing mound.

Saw about 50 species all up.
A great day of Birding
