Coastal Speckled Warbler

Their distribution is fairly local and vagrant across SEQ. Birds Queensland holds over 60 records and they have not been recorded from Bribie Island or the other Islands, that I can find - I wonder why?

 

I am going to Lake (water?) Atkinson tomorrow - I must see if I can dig one up?

I saw one at the Brisbane City Council’s Hawkesbury Rd Reserve close to the southern boundary of Toohey Forest in August 2001. I was told at the time that they had been recorded in Toohey Forest.

I've never seen a Speckled Warbler that close to the coast before, but they're not so uncommon in the Brisbane region as I used to think.  I've now seen them several times in Pullenvale.  After seeing them there, I'd not be surprised if they turned up in places like Mt Coot-tha or Toohey Forest (not that I've seen them there yet, but the habitat is right).
