Hi Birders,

Annabel Ashworth asks whether a Diamond Dove seen 22km E of Tamworth alongthe Peel River, is likely to be an escapee.

The answer is no, Diamond Doves make irregular irruptions into eastern NSWmost years, in small numbers. However in 2005/6 there have been more recordsthan usual and in the Tamworth District they were reported at Trinkey SF on1/10/05 by J.Peattie and at Ravensfield HSD Tamworth on 12/10 by E. Fair(source: Tamworth Birdwatchers Newsletter Nov 2005).

It is possible that more have been seen since October.
