Following your link to read some of the background to this book,
I was a little disturbed to find that CSIRO doesn't seem to consider
that fish are vertebrates.
I'd accept that a full listing of marine species would be a huge task,
but surely the endemic freshwater ones could get a mention.
Perhaps there is not enough financial support for them??

So how does this revised list relate to the CSIRO one, soon to be
published: Clayton et al. 2006, CSIRO List of Australian Vertebrates,

. Will we this year have two competing 'official' lists?

I emailed Walter Boles at the Australian Museum to ask the question when the
revised taxonomy would be published. I am sure there are many of you out
there who would be interested in his reply:
Dear Alastair,
We are hoping to have the completed manuscript submitted by mid April.
After that, a publication date will be in the hands of CSIRO Publishing.
Contact me again about June, and I will hopefully have a better idea of
the timing.
Regards,
Walter
