In view of Alastair's note regarding the expected
publication later this year of the revised Australian Checklist, 'The Taxonomy
and Species of Birds of Australia & its Territories' by Christidis
& Boles, I list below some changes I anticipate regarding species as
currently defined in the 1994 edition; i.e. ignoring taxonomic changes. A lot
has happened in the last 11 years!

Helmeted Guineafowl Atlantic Petrel Laysan Albatross Grey Heron Weka (extinct on Macquarie Island) Green Sandpiper American Golden Plover Lesser Black-backed Gull House Crow Brown Shrike Pechora Pipit Singing Starling Additions to the ?Supplementary List? (23) Species that are the subject of
claims that may be genuine. Several have yet to be assessed by BARC. Some have
been reported in publications (23).

(3+) Long-billed Dowitcher (proved to be a Short-billed
Dowitcher).
