Hello all,
Today (26/11/05) I visisted Docker Swamp, which is in the King Valley, 20km south of Wangaratta. To my surprise I observed a Magpie Goose foraging with Australian Shelduck around the edge of the swamp. The bird appeared to be an adult female. Where would this bird be from? The populations in northern Australia seem to far away, perhaps it was from populations in south-west Victoria (Werribee to Port Fairy). Any ideas? Other good sightings included a pair of Whiskered Tern, an adult White-bellied Sea-eagle and over a 1000 Straw-necked and 400 White Ibis breeding with many recently fledged young.
