John & others
Apologies for my incorrect info about water in the lakes. I knew there were
some environmental flows undertaken and more planned, but I did not realise
that water had actually reached the lakes. Last time we looked in those
areas, a while back, there was just a bit of water coming along Chalka
Creek.
I had better get down there again for a more thorough look!!
Last Sunday we went through the Park and had eight separate sightings of
Regent Parrots at various places (probably sometimes of the same birds) and
a pair of Major Mitchell Cockatoos along Old Calder Hwy.

Further to Bob's comments about Hattah, I was up there last weekend and
experienced heavy rain on Saturday. Lake Lochie is full and brimming with
waterfowl - musk ducks, pink-eared, etc, Ospreys were also seen nearby.
Regent Parrots are nesting in the lake Hattah camping ground along with
yellow rosellas, apostlebirds and choughs.
Saw a pair of Chestnut Quail Thrush near the Nowingi Toxic Dump Site
(proposed). Also Malleefowl along the road from Hattah to the park
entrance.
