This book is a "must have", comparing in our view with Bill Oddies
"Little Black Book", and Mark Cocker's "Birders". Dools has done in one
frantic, hugely amusing year what Herself (equally obsessed as me but a
better birder) and I have done in something over 40 years. His big task
now is, at his youthful age, to decide what to do next. The account of
his journeys brings back great memories... Borroloola Caravan park on
Saturday night....the party lasted all night and could be heard for
miles....looking for that damned Carpentarian grasswren at that site
and then, many times, at the Lorretto Mine site. It is a book that
twitchers will relate to immensely, but is a book for all serious
birders. I have already had to get a second copy for a relative who
wanted to take mine.
I have no vested interest.. haven't met Dools, and haven't
shares in the publisher. Wish otherwise.
