have read in a long chalk no mention of poultry notice - and the following
statement is beyond belief. World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE)
director-general Dr Bernard Vallat said the organisation was putting
together a record of all species of migratory birds, the diseases they may
be carrying and countries they are travelling to.

*'Bird flu' checks stepped up*

ANIMAL health authorities in the Middle East are investigating the
possibility that migratory birds could carry diseases from one country to
another, said a top expert yesterday.

World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) director-general Dr Bernard
Vallat said the organisation was putting together a record of all species of
migratory birds, the diseases they may be carrying and countries they are
travelling to.

He said the organisation was working on giving this information to all
Middle Eastern countries to enable them to conduct their own analysis of
birds.

He added that OIE experts were currently taking samples of birds in Siberia
