CBCs , Koels, etc., on the move.Hi Tony From the archive I don't agree that we are getting the same stuff year afteryear nor the notion that we may only be seeing "a bit of seasonal variation". Some of the changes are I believe best explained as effects of global warming. This year there have been reports of Channel-billed Cuckoos near Bairnsdale in mid August, and in Brighton, a Melbourne suburb, in late August. (And of Grey-headed Flying-foxes in Tasmania!) But I do agree it would be good for all records to go into the Atlas or at least to someone to collate records for particular species. Mike Tarburton has been doing great work on tracking swifts each year. Maybe someone would like to do it for Koels.... or Ross's Gull. Michael Norris |
