Hi,

I run several listservers on Yahoogroups and we have no spam problems to speak of. The Yahoogroups facility would be simple enough to set up, is totally encrypted and they have their own spam filters. The biggest problem I have with birding-aus - which is why I use this Hotmail account to contact it - is that email addresses are not encrypted. Soon after I email to birding-aus it appears on Google with my address, and I start to receive spam a few days later. Through process of elimination, I have discovered that birding-aus is the cause for most unsolicited emails I receive.

I would strongly advise that birding-aus is moved to Yahoogroups. The Administrator would have to sign everyone up, which would be an arduous task. But I cannot see much alternative other than to employ a sophisticated spam filtering service. If this is possible, fine. Otherwise, birding-aus will quickly become defunct. I have given up receiving emails myself and simply read online now. It's a shame.

Cheers,

Simon Mustoe.
