With regards to birds being attacked/killed by other birds. I recently had the good fortune to do some bird surveys at 80 Mile Beach, and the manager there told us that the local Pied Butcherbirds were a terror to any night birds that came in to roost in the day. He said he'd buried at least one tyto owl (we suspect Barn Owl), plus many tawny frogmouths. We actually found a dead Tawny under a tree while we were there. He also said they kill any Kingfishers that come in during the day.
